After the past couple of years, which were a period of adjusting to a new way of living in the world, daydreams of much simpler times drift by. Memories of times that felt carefree, sunny, and light. Almost an unaware freedom. Like being a kid again, the only worry is that of having to go to sleep at the end of the day, ruining all chances of more fun to be had. This time, nearly three years ago, when life felt childish, a trip to the world's happiest place on earth encapsulated that memory of easier times.
Days that started before the sun came up. A childish buzz in the air while getting ready to go. Arriving at the edges of the park, untroubled by the lines of people also waiting to get through the gates, giddy chatter about the plans for the day offering a distraction as the time passed by without even noticing. Then, as if stuck by pixie dust, the wait in line is over. There, in front of it all, is the magical creation of Walt Disney himself. The sounds of cameras snapping all around as everyone poses for the classic photo in front of Mickey Mouse-shaped flowers on a grassy hill.
Walking under the classic words, “HERE YOU LEAVE TODAY AND ENTER THE WORLD OF YESTERDAY, TOMORROW AND FANTASY.” Seeing the magic come alive in the faces of children all around. Autograph books flip open, awaiting the timeless signatures of characters old and new, signed with care with a Mickey Mouse pen (of course). Once all the favorite names are checked off the list, it’s onto the rides. Large displays, statues, and buildings invite all into the world of stories, and worlds that turn imagination into a tangible reality. Every inch of the park thoughtfully planned and constructed to exceed the fantasy of all, young and old.
The tastes, the smells, the streets, all feel like home while simultaneously transporting everyone into a land of new and adventurous things. Places like Adventureland, Fantasyland, Toontown, and Tomorrowland. Nothing to stop the fun. Even hunger is satisfied in the most playful of ways with Dole Whips, Matterhorn Macaroons, popcorn, pretzels, and more. And for the lucky little ones, even something as troubling as being tired is made effortless with a luxurious nap in a stroller walk around the park. The amusement of the day lasting well into the darkness of the night, as fireworks bid farewell to the most wonderful day of childhood. A gentle drive home with sun-kissed cheeks, sticky fingers, tired feet, and all the memories of the most magical place on earth.

Until next time,
